Notting Hill Villa

Summer 2013

Notting Hill Villa

London, W8

A bright and colourful house in the heart of Notting Hill. The clients joy for a playful use of materials and textures became the foundation of the design. Connecting together two separate houses on the lower ground floor with a glass infill, a creative approach was needed to keep the house flowing and to connect it with the garden. A floating stone stair and dark wooden panelling brings together the two hallways, whilst referencing the original detailing.
The kitchen was moved from the lower ground floor to the rarely used ground floor. This space became the real heart of the family home - a hang out space, dining room, and kitchen. On the upper floors, a reorganisation of the 4 children’s bedrooms, added a second playful and bright bathroom.
In the large double width garden a large oak garden room was built as a retreat away from the house. The garden design by Butter Wakefield.
